Thursday Text: Persuasion

Last week I finished Jane Austen's Persuasion. It was the last of her novels that I had to read. It seemed more slowly moving and a little less complicated than the others, but I did really like it. If you haven't read it, this may be something of a spoiler (- so stop reading now!).

Captain Wentworth's letter to Anne toward the end is undoubtedly the best part of the book.

... You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone forever. ... Dare not say that man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death. I have loved none but you. ...
