Thursday Text: The Parting Glass

I just finished the 5th book in the Isabel Dalhousie series by Alexander McCall Smith. I know, I'm plowing through them - but they're a fun read. This last one mentioned a traditional Irish/Scottish song called The Parting Glass. As it turns out, this song is also in Waking Ned Devine. Have you seen that movie? So funny.

Oh, all the comrades e'er I had,
They're sorry for my going away,
And all the sweethearts e'er I had,
They'd wish me one more day to stay,
But since it falls unto my lot,
That I should rise and you should not,
I gently rise and softly call,
Good night and joy be with you all.
