Thursday Tunes: Vince Gill

Last Thursday, we were in Nashville, TN. We had tickets to Bluegrass Night at the Ryman Auditorium. They have bluegrass shows on Thursdays during the summer, and this was the first of the year - featuring Vince Gill. It was really great. The bluegrass was fun, and Vince is so easy to listen to. You can sample his music on his myspace page.

Masking Tape Quilt

Sara told me about this great project on the Purl Bee. They've been posting a mini quilt of the month pattern, and this Masking Tape Quilt was March's. It doesn't seem to be too difficult - just a matter of getting all of the pieces lined up. Very cute.

Blown Glass

After visiting my sister Sara's house, I was inspired to buy this beautiful blown glass drop at Olive & Dahlia on 25th Street in Ogden (she has a few lovely ones). I also got this cute little bird. I think they'll look great hanging in front of a window.

HEMNES cabinet

It seems like I've been gathering a lot of odds and ends lately, and they need to find a home. I would love to get this HEMNES cabinet from IKEA. It's clean and simple and would do the trick!

Thursday Text: Watership Down

I am currently reading Watership Down by Richard Adams. It's a British novel from the '70s about rabbits. I am really enjoying it. Have you read it? If so, don't spoil it for me!

Richard Ginori Folkware

A recent issue of House Beautiful introduced me to the Richard Ginori 1735 web site. I really love the folkware line of tableware. It's so bright and happy.

MYdrap Luncheon Napkins

I think I saw these in Better Homes & Gardens. MYdrap luncheon napkins are 100% cotton napkins that you tear from a roll and use through six washes and then compost. They are beautiful and biodegradable! You can get them in a variety of colors on Amazon.

How to Tie a Scarf

My husband returned from a trip to Turkey last week, and he brought me two beautiful scarves. I really wanted one, but I haven't been sure how to wear one. Scarves.net offers video clips demonstrating 37 ways to tie a scarf. Maybe I can be a scarf-wearer after all!

Have you seen Dan in Real Life? It's pretty funny. Sondre Lerche did the music. I'm still sampling his stuff, but I think I like it!

Pocket Posh

I just returned from another trip out West. One thing that was really great on the plane was this Pocket Posh puzzle book. The one that I got was all about Shakespeare and included a variety of puzzles. Fun!

Moda Shirtings

Here's another line by Moda that I really like: shirtings 1875-1900. I saw some of these patterns at the fabric store the other day, and I think they are fantastic.

Martha Stewart Cricut

I'm still not sure about all of these cutting machines, but the Martha Stewart cartridges for the Cricut Cake system are pretty cute. I suppose you could use them on paper, too!

Father's Day Tie

When we were looking at fabric the other day, my husband saw some that he thought would make a nice necktie. So I searched online for a pattern. The Purl Bee has a great Father's Day tie pattern and instructions. They made theirs with some beautiful Liberty of London fabric. I'll have to see if I can get one to turn out...

Morris Tapestry

I was really excited to find out about the Morris Tapestry line from Moda. The designs might not be exactly William Morris, but it's a great alternative to the really expensive authentic reproductions. I just ordered a charm pack from Etsy!

Somehow despite living in the Chicago viewing area with the chance to watch Oprah twice a day I still missed the big farewell shows. But I saw this picture, and I really love Beyonce's dress. Don't you?
