Bedroom Makeover

For Christmas I did a bedroom makeover.  I have a few last things to work on, but here's the new look.  One thing that you can't see is the new knobs I got from Hobby Lobby for the nightstands.  (We have one on each side with matching lamps.)  The lamps are from WalMart, the rug runner is from Target - as are new sheets and a blanket.  The quilt and shams are from Overstock.com.  The big square pillow is from IKEA.  I'm trying to decide if I should embroider it or stencil on it...  At the foot of the bed is my wool throw from Petworth, UK and some embroidered fabric that Tony brought back from India (I sewed it around the edges to make a runner).  I used these two items as the inspiration for the room.  I have yet to do curtains, but I'm happy with things so far.  It's quite cozy!  (Let me know if you want any more details...)

Coasters

My last set of coasters was from IKEA, and they were very thin cork that ended up getting soaked all the way through. So I found some thicker ones that I had lying around and stamped them with a cute doily stamp. These should do the trick!

HEMNES cabinet

It seems like I've been gathering a lot of odds and ends lately, and they need to find a home. I would love to get this HEMNES cabinet from IKEA. It's clean and simple and would do the trick!

Norden Gateleg Table

My little desk in my craft room is apparently not sturdy enough to hold my sewing machine, so I may have to find a new option. I really like this Norden table from IKEA. It is solid wood, and the sides can fold out for extra space!

Liatorp Table

We have the Liatorp table from IKEA in our living room. I wasn't sure what to put in the drawers to display. At first we just put books in it, but I wasn't satisfied. The other day I wandered around the house gathering up knick-knacks. I like how it turned out.

Terje Folding Chair

We went to IKEA this weekend and bought a couple of these folding chairs. They are cute and simple and versatile. One is for a nook in our bedroom, and one is for a reading nook. And then they can double as extra dining chairs when we have company!

Decorative Chairs

Did you see this project in the April issue of Martha Stewart Living? These chairs are so fun - they took apart IKEA chairs and plastered decorative paper on the back. I like that it adds interest without being overwhelming.

IKEA Spice Jars

We grew some herbs last year, and it ended up being really nice to snip fresh rosemary or basil to use in cooking. For Christmas, Tony bought me a food dehydrator so that I could dry and store some of our bounty. So I recently dried some rosemary and sage. For storage, I had Tony's dad (who lives about a mile from IKEA) pick me up some of these DROPPAR spice jars at IKEA. I am so excited to fill them with interesting things this summer. What's your favorite herb?

IKEA

Of course everyone loves IKEA. It is so much easier to love now that they have a location about a mile from Tony's family's home. I was somewhat limited in what I could bring back with me, but I got this table runner. You have to see it in person - it is very vibrant and pretty in a Scandinavian sort of way. We also ate lunch there, and, after being ill for about 5 days, the meatballs were delicious! What could be better than a tasty meal for $5 and some great shopping?
