Teton Cuff Bracelet

One of my husband's colleagues at his former school often wore this incredible cuff bracelet.  She has a daughter who lives in Jackson and bought it when she was visiting so that she could remember the mountains when she returned to Illinois.  I want one!

Craft Fair

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  We did, and now I'm busily preparing for a craft fair.  (Hence the gap in posting...)  I'll be at the DeKalb Area Women's Center Friday evening and Saturday - come see me if you're in the area.  Here are some Liberty print lavender sachets and earrings that I made.  I'm hoping to put what's left over in my Etsy shop.  Stay tuned!

Erie Canal Collectors

I found a fantastic Etsy shop called Erie Canal Collectors.  They sell really great vintage jewelry.  I especially like the signet rings and this classic turquoise cuff.

Cowboy Collectibles

When we visited Old Town San Diego last January, I bought a beautiful horse hair bracelet.  It's from Cowboy Collectibles (from Montana).  Mine consists of two braided strands of chestnut brown hair, complete with a horseshoe charm.  Much cheaper than owning an actual horse...

V&A Jewellery

Rooms 91-93 at the V&A are full of jewellery (as the Brits call it).  The collection is fascinating.  They had some pieces, like this brooch, that belonged to Jane Morris - the wife of William Morris.  Below is a sample of some of the other objects.  Tony liked the really sparkly things, like this tiara (bottom).

I really love the jewelry from the Sundance catalog.  Aren't these emerald rings so lovely?

Christmas Necklace

Don't tell my mom, but this is one of her Christmas gifts.  I made it using some marble beads that one of my husband's colleagues brought back from their trip to Turkey a couple of years ago.

I wish you all a very merry Christmas and an optimistic 2014!  I'm going to enjoy my Christmas break and be thinking of what direction I want to take things in the new year.  I think it may be time to change things up a bit!  Stay tuned...

Turquoise Necklace

I bought a string of lovely turquoise beads for $3 at the Wisconsin State Fair and turned them into this little necklace.  I wish I would have bought more!

Oh, Martha, You Really Shouldn't Have!

I just found out about something that might use up all of my allowance for the next couple of months...  Martha Stewart Crafts now has a jewelry line at Michaels!  My local store didn't have everything, but they had some awesome stuff.  It will be fun to try out some new techniques - like enameling!

Dawes Design

I saw an ad for Dawes Design in a book in my metal jewelry class this morning, and I had to look it up.  Dawes Design is the collection of Jennifer Dawes of Sonoma County, California.  In addition to these lovelies, she offers simple, stackable rings.  Her pieces are beautiful and timeless. 

Erica Weiner Jewelry

Sorry about missing a couple of days!  My husband had a conference in Iowa City.  It's a fun place to stay.  At a shop called Revival, I discovered some fabulous jewelry by Erica Weiner.  I love these enamel horse earrings.  She also makes lovely long necklaces, like this one with gingko leaves.

Heirloom Jewelry

Do you have any jewelry that's been passed down in your family?  I have this beautiful ring that belonged to my dad's mother.  She died when he was 13, so I never knew her.  It's so special to me.  The last time we were in Utah, I had it cleaned up by my jeweler.  It is well worn and rather scuffed up, but I think it's lovely.  (And since my grandmother was a 6' tall Dutch woman, it will always fit one of my larger fingers.)
