Boiled Peanuts

Boiled peanuts are an interesting snack from North Carolina and thereabouts.  My husband likes them, and we found some raw peanuts - and the recipe was in Country Living - so I made some.  They turned out great!  They're soft and salty and interesting.

1 lb. raw peanuts
1/3 cup salt
Enough water to cover peanuts by two inches.

Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low; simmer 4 hours.

I think I saw this in Country Living, but I think it's sweet: a French cake carrier from World Market.  My beginning French class is beginning in a couple of weeks, so this is some fun inspiration.

Folk Fibers

I loved reading about Folk Fibers in the latest issue of Country Living.  Maura Grace Ambrose is the girl behind Folk Fibers.  She creates timeless quilts using natural dyes, vintage and new fabrics, and classic designs.  This quilt with mitered corners is similar to a very striking one that was in the magazine.  The simple patterns are fantastic.

For the Makers

Did you see this fantastic idea in Country Living?  For the Makers sells subscriptions for monthly craft boxes.  When you sign up you pay $29 per month and then receive a box with supplies and instructions for four projects each month.  It sounds like so much fun!

Country Living magazine has partnered with New World Home to design some really fabulous manufactured homes. They use old world designs and new world technology to make the homes stylish and efficient. I think it's an interesting idea - I wonder how the pricing compares...

I read a few copies of Country Living at my parents' house over Christmas. One of them had this cute bird cage coin bank from Karma Kiss. I think it's delightful.

Country Living Chair

Also while we were in Utah, I read my mom's February issue of Country Living. This chair was on the cover. It is by Country Living for Kmart. I really love it. I was strongly considering buying it for our living room, but then I went to the thrift store and found a shield-back chair for $8 that I'm going to take on as a project. I'll keep you posted!
