We were in Utah last week for the NCAA games. It was all very exciting. On the way home, I picked up the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living, and I was glad I did! It had a lot of great ideas. One ad that was particularly cute was for Martha's Figural Bunny Collection serveware at Macy's. I also liked this bunny cake stand.

Michael Aram
The last time I was downtown at the Macy's on State Street, I found some really incredible serving/table pieces by Michael Aram. I love how this black orchid bowl and napkin rings are really solid but whimsical at the same time.

Scalloped Whiteware Plates
When we were at Macy's the other day I saw a beautiful scalloped plate from Martha. This pictures isn't a very good one, but it was a lovely plate - and I should have bought it!

Merz Apothecary
We were in Chicago Saturday night for a Chicago Symphony Orchestra concert. It was cold and rainy, but it was so much fun. Everyone was out doing their Christmas shopping. Macy's on State was especially busy (and festive!). They used to have a section called Merz Apothecary on the main level, but we found out that they've moved to a new location at the Palmer House. We liked the new space, and we bought some delightful fig and almond soap!

Buri Animals Christmas Ornaments
These little ornaments are so adorable. They're from Martha's collection at Macy's. Forest critters are a great way to dress up a Christmas tree.

Pre de Provence Chamomile
I'm really into scents this week... Lately I've been using a bar of Pre de Provence chamomile soap. I bought a big square at the Macy's on State Street, and it lathers really well and smells nice. I would recommend it.

Spectacular
I hope you had a good Fourth! We watched the Macy's NYC fireworks on TV, and they were really great.

Ralph Lauren Olympic Collection
I LOVE the Olympics, and I love Ralph Lauren - so it's interesting that the two have been joined in the past couple of years. It's all so classic and all-American. (More expensive than when Roots was the outfitter, though...)

Dried Apples
When we were at Macy's a few weeks ago, I found this great Martha Stewart apple corer. It is fantastic. I used it to core a bag of apples and then sliced them into rings and put them in my food dehydrator for a whole day. They turned out lovely.

Macy's on State Tiffany Ceiling
We were in Chicago on Saturday, so we returned to the Macy's on State to track down the Tiffany ceiling. It's on the 5th floor (through the ladies intimate section). The iridescent favrile glass was beautiful. And I really love the pendant lights.

Macy's on State Street
One of the best things about where we stayed in Chicago was our proximity to the Macy's on State Street. It was about a block away, so I visited three times. It is immense and incredible. I kept getting lost. But I did find some Martha stuff! I got a cute red cake stand on clearance and an apple corer and a chef's knife. I just found out about the Tiffany ceiling, so I will have to go check it out the next time we're in the big city!

Martha Stewart Conservatory Collection
Have you seen the Martha Conservatory light fixtures at Macy's? They are gorgeous. This first one reminds me a bit of some pendants that Sara has in her living room. I'm guessing the piece at the top is to keep bugs from falling in... I especially love the etched mirror sconce. So beautiful.

Comforter
As I was looking at the Martha stuff at Macy's last night, I started thinking of what it would be like to be able to spend hundreds of dollars on bedding. Then I started thinking that what most of us really want in life is to be comfortable. We want hot water for our showers and cold water when we're thirsty. We want a soft place to lie down at night. We don't want to be in pain or sick or nervous. We just want comfort! And then I started thinking about the use of the word comfort in the scriptures. It is so apt that the Holy Ghost is called the Comforter. What could be better or more appropriate for us as God's children? As Paul advised in 2 Corinthians 13:11
Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

I did it! But maybe I shouldn't have...
On Saturday I finally went to Macy's to check out their Martha stuff. I want one of everything from the kitchen section, please! For now, I got these cute prep bowls.

Martha Stewart at Macy's
Like a lot of people, I am a lover of all things Martha Stewart. I've been browsing her Macy's collection online and now really need to get to the store. It is all so beautiful. I especially love the vintage blue Kitchenaid mixer!
