Guru Donuts

Since we've moved to Wenatchee, our drives home to Utah have taken us through Boise.  Sharing a space with the Boise Fry Company is the fabulous Guru Donuts.  This is a picture of mine - it's hipsterberry flavored (berry and lavender), and it's so good.

The Fractured Prune

Also in Phoenix we discovered The Fractured Prune.  It's a doughnut place that is pretty fantastic.  When we ordered our treats, we felt like they were expensive and took a long time - but when we got them we understood why...  They make them hot when you order, and the flavors and toppings are tasty.  I had one with honey glaze, cinnamon sugar, and mini chocolate chips.  Yum!

Donuts!

A couple of weeks ago when we were at the dentist, we had to wait a really long time. The upside of this story is that I found a recipe for donuts in the Family Circle magazine. I tried it last week. I don't have a donut pan, but I do have one of Martha's mini Bundt cake pans. They turned out to be pretty good - and fun! I forgot to take a picture before we ate the best-looking ones... (Recipe below.)

Whisk: 1 1/4 cups flour, 1/2 tsp. baking soda, and 1/4 tsp. salt

Whisk: 1/2 cup buttermilk, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1 egg, 4 tsp. melted butter, and 1 tsp. vanilla

Add liquid mixture to flour mixture and whisk until smooth.

Pipe into donut pan (or mini Bundt cake pan).

Bake at 325 degrees for 13 minutes. Makes 6.
