My sister told me about this beautiful Minerva Teichert-illustrated, leather-bound edition of the Book of Mormon.  Offered by Deseret Book, this would be a lovely family heirloom.

Friday Featured Art: Manti Temple Murals

I have not been to the Manti Temple, but I'm starting to think that I need to plan a visit.  Apparently they have murals by C.C.A. Christiansen AND Minerva Teichert.  This is a sketch by Teichert for one of the walls (borrowed from here).  The color looks so amazing.

I was looking for an image by Minerva Teichert, and I found this great painting. It's called Roping the Bear, and it's held by the BYU Museum of Art. I love the '30s style.

Friday Featured Art: Christ in a Red Robe

One thing that was interesting for me to notice at the Nauvoo Temple was that they have Minerva Teichert paintings hanging in the chapel and the hallways. Of course her works are of a much later period than Nauvoo, but I feel like they fit in nicely. This is Christ in a Red Robe.

I went to the temple last night and was reminded of this work by Minerva Teichert. It's called Rescue of the Lost Lamb. I think it's really sweet.

Friday Featured Art: Minerva Teichert

When I watched NieNie on Oprah the other day, I noticed Minerva Teichert's painting of Esther in one of her rooms. This is one of Minerva's paintings that I really like. She painted mostly in the 30s and had a very distinct style. I'm not partial to all of her work, but I do love some of it. What do you think?
