When we were in Nauvoo last month, we visited the Cultural Hall. The upstairs ballroom is lined with paintings by Lane K. Newberry. He studied at the Art Institute in Chicago and painted numerous scenes of Nauvoo. I really loved his work. It is very difficult to find images of his work online. Here is one (there's kind of a glare on the painting) with President Hinckley as the Nauvoo Temple was being reopened in 2002.

Thank you for still having this up. I have been reading the photo book "The Nauvoo Temple" by John Telford and written by Susan Easton Black. I read about the artist Lane K. Newberry and when I went to search for him online, this was the first thing that popped up. Next time I'm in Nauvoo (I live in Canada ... so I'm not holding my breath), I'm going to the cultural hall to see the paintings! Thanks for helping to answer some of my questions about Lane K. Newberry.
