Southern Magnolias were a nice part of our trip to the South. They were everywhere, and they were in full bloom when we arrived in North Carolina. The scent was heavenly. The trees are evergreen, and they are gigantic. (As you can see in the bottom photo - they dwarfed the buildings.) Beautiful.

That is neat. I wonder what they are like in the winter. I like that our country is so diverse naturewise.
They have some moments of browning and leaf-shedding, but look mostly the same. The flowers are so beautiful but turn a horrible brown when they're done blooming...
