Candles

We recently had a Christmas party for Young Women's, and my secret Santa gave me the coolest gift.  She made these fabulous candles by drawing on tissue paper with a Sharpie and then hair-drying the designs onto the candles (using wax paper as a buffer).  The gold squirrel is perfect in my living room, and the London cityscape is amazing.  You can see Big Ben and the Tower Bridge here - the other side shows the London Eye, the Gherkin, and the Shard.  I love homemade gifts!

YW Quilt

One of the things keeping me busy before my craft fair was a quilt that I was making for the 18th birthday of a YW in my ward.  I pieced together strips of fabric in the various value colors for the top.  The back and binding were light grey with flowers, and there was a white border around the back.  The YW each signed their name along the bottom with fabric markers.  It got so stressful that I forgot to take a picture of the finished product!  But here's the top...

GPS Coordinate Key Chains

Recently I taught a lesson in Young Women's about temples.  For a handout, I made these little key chains.  They have the GPS coordinates for the Chicago Temple.  Most of the girls clipped them onto their purses.  I hope when they see them they'll think about the temple.

Thursday Text: Your Happily Ever After

Last night was our Young Women in Excellence event.  We used President Uchtdorf's talk, Your Happily Ever After, as the theme for the evening.  Here is a quote:

Isn’t it remarkable to know that our eternal Heavenly Father knows you, hears you, watches over you, and loves you with an infinite love? In fact, His love for you is so great that He has granted you this earthly life as a precious gift of “once upon a time,” complete with your own true story of adventure, trial, and opportunities for greatness, nobility, courage, and love. And, most glorious of all, He offers you a gift beyond price and comprehension. Heavenly Father offers to you the greatest gift of all—eternal life—and the opportunity and infinite blessing of your own “happily ever after.”

Thursday Text: C.S. Lewis Quote

Today I wanted to share a fabulous quote by C.S. Lewis that I found on Pinterest.  We recently set up a Pinterest account for our Young Women (here), and I've added a Pin it button to my posts so that we can all share great ideas!

Sis. Oscarson

Have you read about the new General Young Women Presidency?  Sis. Oscarson is on Pinterest!  I've been perusing her boards, and she has found some awesome and funny things.  Check it out here.

Friday Featured Art: Young Women Values

While I was in Utah, I picked up a set of Young Women Values Exemplified by Women in the Scriptures cards.  They're from Steve Nethercott's line of "Real Hero Posters."  The young women thought they were pretty awesome.

Thursday Text: Your Happily Ever After

I've been working on my Young Women's lesson for Jan. 6 (the first of the new year).  I really enjoyed reading Pres. Uchtdorf's talk Your Happily Ever After.  You can read it here.

Friday Featured Art: Arise and Shine Forth

Sorry this is late - Thursday and Friday were crazy around here.  This is a lovely poster by Steve Nethercott with the 2012 mutual theme.  The YW stake leaders had it at our training last week, and I really liked it.
