Friday Featured Art: Lorado Taft

Last week, we drove up the Rock River to see this huge statue of Chief Blackhawk. It was sculpted by Lorado Taft. As we learned more about this artist, we realized that he created a couple of sculptures that we like at the Garfield Park Conservatory. He also sculpted the Fountain of the Great Lakes that we saw next to the Art Institute when we were there with my parents (see below).

Thursday Two Things: Missouri Botanical Garden/Garfield Park Conservatory

As we prepare for our move to Illinois, I've been reflecting on our time in Missouri. There are many things that I love about both places (believe it or not!). So I've decided to use Thursdays to post two things - one thing I'm going to miss about Missouri and one thing I'm excited for in Illinois.

1. Missouri - The Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis

2. Illinois - The Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago

Green

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, I'm sharing a picture that I took when we visited the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago last month. They have a fabulous fern garden, and it's such a nice, green spot in the big city. (This is a maidenhair fern.)
