Penguin Threads

We made it through the blizzard, and I promise to return to more regular posting!  I thought that I had posted about these book covers before, but I can't seem to find anything.  So it's kind of old news, but Penguin has a series of classic books featuring hand-stitched cover designs.  The first three were designed by Jillian Tamaki, and you can see her process here.  This is so fascinating to me.  I love that they're using a traditional craft in a modern way.

Replica Embroidery Scissors

The last time we were in Nauvoo I picked up a pair of embroidery scissors at one of the shops.  They were actually from the Victorian Trading Co.  They're going to make the little cross-stitch I'm working on a lot more fancy!

Handmade Gifts

My sister, Beth, is the needlework wizard of the family.  She made me these adorable embroidered dish towels for Christmas.  She also crocheted some dish cloths for me and sewed these cute rickrack trimmed napkins.  What a fabulous gift!

Embroidery Kit

Did you see this in Martha?  Purl Soho has a fun embroidery kit for sale.  It includes all of the supplies to make two seasonal trees plus enough embroidery thread for all four.  What a fun idea!

Embroidered Pillow

We had a Christmas decoration exchange last Friday, and we were supposed to make handmade gifts. I used some clip art to embroider this holly wreath on linen. I thought this little pillow turned out pretty cute.
